Journal Advertising Policy

CANDJ accepts commercial advertising for its website while maintaining editorial integrity through well-defined policies governing the relationship between editorial content and advertisers. The following policy outlines the principles and guidelines under which advertising is accepted and managed.

  1. General Advertising Principles
    1. Editorial Independence: The acceptance and placement of advertisements are made independently of editorial decisions. Online advertising does not influence editorial content, and publication of an advertisement does not imply endorsement by the Publisher (CAND), Editor, or Editorial Board.
    2. Approval Process: All advertisements are subject to approval by the Publisher or Editor. The Editors have full and final authority over approving advertisements and enforcing the advertising policy.
  2. Placement and Display
    1. Designated Ad Spaces: Advertisements will be displayed in standard designated positions on the Journal’s website.
    2. Search Results Integrity: Advertisers have no control over search results on the Journal’s website. Search results are determined solely by the Journal’s search functionality and user-defined criteria such as relevance or recency.
  3. Content and Ethical Standards
    1. Advertiser Identification: Advertisements must clearly identify the advertiser and the product or service being offered.
    2. Accuracy and Fairness: Advertisements must not contain misleading, exaggerated, or false claims. They must not include any direct or implied disparagement of another product or service.
    3. Legal and Regulatory Compliance: Advertisers and their agents are responsible for ensuring that their advertisements comply with all applicable laws and regulations (e.g., Health Canada regulations regarding advertising and promotion).
    4. Intellectual Property Responsibility: Advertisers warrant that they have the legal right to use any trademarks, service marks, or trade names depicted in their advertisements.
  4. Prohibited Content
    1. Offensive or Harmful Material: Advertisements containing indecent, obscene, defamatory, or offensive material, including text or artwork, will not be accepted. Any content that is discriminatory or disparaging toward individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or other protected characteristics is strictly prohibited.
  5. Liability and Modifications
    1. Liability Disclaimer: The Publisher or Editor is not responsible for any damages, including but not limited to actual, direct, incidental, or consequential damages, arising from errors in the display of an advertisement.
    2. Advertisement Duration: Advertisements and sponsorships will run for the duration specified in the agreement between the advertiser and the publisher.
    3. Right to Withdraw Advertisements: The Editors or Publisher, reserve the right to remove any advertisement from the Journal’s website at their discretion.

This policy ensures that advertising within CANDJ maintains ethical standards while providing value to both advertisers and readers.
