Statement from the Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors

The mission of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND) is to further the naturopathic medical profession across Canada through advocacy, awareness, and support of Naturopathic Doctors. CAND’s vision is that Naturopathic Doctors are a strong, trusted, unified voice in Canadian healthcare.

The Board of Directors of the CAND recognizes that the publication of a commentary in the CAND Journal in March 2026 raised concern among members and external stakeholders. The CAND does not take positions on international geopolitical matters.

The CAND Board is currently reviewing the Journal’s long-term strategic feasibility, sustainability, and value to members. This includes consideration of operational requirements, editorial leadership needs, and how best to invest organizational resources in support of the profession. While this review is underway, the CAND Board has taken the difficult decision to pause the Journal until a recommendation on next steps can be made.

The CAND remains focused on serving its members and advancing the profession in Canada.
